1. The underground mining technology research Departmen
Underground Mining Technology Research Department was established in 1972, right from the inception date of Vinacomin – Institute of Mining Science and Technology. In the past years, of the staff who lived and worked in the department, many people have become the excellent scientists, leaders and managers of coal and minerals industry. The department’s staff is always paid attention to train and improve the professional qualifications. Currently, 19 researchers are working in the department of which 3 are doctors of science, 9 are masters of Science, 1 person is studying the master program in Vietnam and 4 people are under the doctoral thesis in China and Russia.

2. The investment consultation Department
The Investment Consultation Department was established on June 2nd, 2003 under the decision N0. 114/QD-TCCB of the director of Vinacomin – Institute of Mining Science and Technology.
Currently, there are 11 staff in total in which 8 are masters of Science and 3 are engineers in the field of mining, underground construction, etc…

3. The underground mines and construction projects technology Department
The Underground Mines and Projects Construction Technology Department was established in 1972, right from the IMSAT’s establishment. Over previous years, along with the IMSAT’s development, the department has developed ceaselessly and presided to implement many scientific research themes and applied advance technical solutions in fields of driving and supporting roadways, improving roadway driving speed which contribute to improve the coal production efficiency.
The Experimental project development Department was established on May 15th, 2007 under the decision N0. 143/QD-TCCB of the director of Vinacomin – Institute of Mining Science and Technology.
Currently, there are 3 staff in total in which 1 is a doctor of science and 2 are engineers.

5. The open pit mining technology research Department
he open pit mining technology research Department was established in 1973 on the basis of the group “Researching and deepening open pit minesâ€.
Currently, the Department owns 12 researchers in which 1 doctor, 3 masters of Science and 2 engineers.
6. The clean coal technology Department
– From 1972 to 1999: Coal processing and preparation
– In 2000, the department was renamed into clean coal technology research department.
Currently, the department owns 8 staff in which 4 are masters of Science, 4 are engineers specialized in minerals processing field

7. Â The minerals processing and metallurgy technology Department
The minerals processing and metallurgy technology Department was established on April, 2nd, 2007 by the decision N0. 64/QD-TCCB of the director of Vinacomin – Institute of Mining Science and Technology.

8.The machinery and mining equipment Department
The Department was established on July 1st, 2005. Up to now, the Department has fulfilled a lot of research, design works which contributes a large part in the scientific research and technology transfer activities of Vinacomin – Institute of Mining Science and Technology.  Â
Currently, the Department owns 17 staff in total in which 2 are Doctors of Science, 3 are Masters of Science

9. The mine electricity and automation research Department
The Mine Electricity and Automation Research Department was established in 1972, right from the IMSAT’s establishment.
Currently, the department owns 11 staff in which there are 3 masters of Science and 7 engineers and it is one of the main research departments of IMSAT. The department’s staff is always enhanced and trained and they have much experience in the research and deployment activities.

10. The energy consumption and conservation research Department
The Department was established on March 14th, 2008 under the decision no. 66/QD-TCCB of the director of Vinacomin – Institute of Mining Science and Technology.
Currently, there is 9 staff in total in which 3 are masters of Science and 5 are engineers working in the Department

11. The mine geomechanics research Department
The Mine Geomechanics Research Department, one of the main departments of Vinacomin – Institute of Mining Science and Technology, was established in September 12, 1979. Currently, the department owns 13 staff in which 4 are masters of Science, 6 are engineers and 1 bachelor.

12. The environment technology research Department
Environment Technology Research Division was established on April 2nd, 2007 under the decision no.75/QD-TCCB of the director of Vinacomin – Institute of Mining Science and Technology on the basis of organization, rearrangement of the Coal Utilization research and Environment Research Departments.
Currently, the department owns 12 staff, in which 1 is doctor of Science, 3 are masters of Science, 3 are engineers and 4 bachelors

13. . The project economics Department
Economics Research Group belonging to Coal Scientific and Technical Research Division was established under the Decision no.1828 DT/TCCB dated September 3, 1976 of the Ministry of Electricity and Coal. In May, 1979 it was renamed into Norm Economics Department. In 2006, it was renamed into Project Economics Department.
Currently, the Department owns 26 staff (including 3 masters of Science, 23 engineers and bachelors of economics) in fields of mine economics, construction economics, environment economics, energy economics, finance – accounting. Most of the staff has foreign language standard at university level and is granted the certificate of construction valuation engineer, the certificate of the building construction investment project management.
14. The construction consultation and investment management Department
The Construction Consultation and Investment Management Department was established on October 11, 2011 under the decision no. 566/QD-TCCB of the director of Vinacomin – Institute of Mining Science and Technology.
Currently, the department includes 12 staff in total, in which, 1 is master of science, 11 are engineers, architectures in fields of civil industrial construction, transport, irrigation, mine construction and 01 bachelor.Â

16. The personnel Department
The Personnel Department is one of the professional departments established in the early years of Vinacomin- Institute of Mining Science and Technology’s establishment and development process. Its functions are to act as an advisor for and assist the IMSAT’s leader in the work concerning organization, personnel, labour, salary, regulations, policy; to implement and apply regulations and policies of the Party and the State for the IMSAT’s particular conditions. Â
