For contributing in solving the problems during mining the medium thick coal seams with the slope angle of 350<\/sup>\u00b8550<\/sup>\u00a0under the complicated geological conditions at Quang Ninh underground coal mines, Institute of Mining Science and Technology (IMSAT) has studied and proposed two proper mining flowsheets and basing on this, asking the permission given by Vinacomin to coordinate with other manufacturers in manufacturing the shield supports and mining equipment\u00a0\u00a0and in developing the pilot application of these mining technologies to the actual production<\/span><\/p>\n

During carrying out the mining activities in the longwalls at the coal seams of 18 and 47, Hong Thai Coal Company has studied and developed some initial roof caving methods for the longwalls. However, the results have not been as requested. At most of the longwalls, the initial roof rocks have not been caved and this is considered as the most important problem in the longwall mining activities of the Company. Basing on this actual situation, the Company has coordinated with Institute of Mining Science and Technology (IMSAT) in researching and selecting the proper the longwalls at the coal seams of 18 and 47 under the concrete conditions<\/span><\/p>\n

At present, the underground drifts at Quang Ninh coal basin are not at the great depth, however, the floor heave has destroyed the supporting structures as well as the stability of the surrounding rocks. Every year, at Quang Ninh coal basin, tens of km of the drifts have been retimbered or resupported, not only causing economic loss but also decreasing mining output. In the paper, the authors propose some positive solutions for increasing the stability of the supporting structures, preventing the floor heave during the execution and operation of the gateways under the geological conditions at Quang Ninh coal basin<\/span><\/p>\n

At present, due to the difficulties in the land clearance, the dumping order and parameters at Na Duoi slagged ash dumpsite have not been done as designed. At some places of the dumpsite, there have been some 2 – 3cm wide and 10 – 20m long cracks on the surface. These phenomena will affect on the dumping plans in the coming time.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the normal operation of Na Duong thermal power plant, it is necessary to survey and evaluate the stability of the dumpsite and then provide the proper dumping order for ensuring the safety in the dumping process and reduce the effects to the environment and surrounding building constructions\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
